After reading Tou’s bio, I couldn’t help imagining this situation, although I imagine his low self-esteem would prevent him from getting to know the robot twins.

Eastern Mind was released in 1995 by Osamu Sato, also the creator of the infamous "LSD: Dream Emulator".
The game's protagonist is Rin, who discovers his soul has been stolen by the island of Tong Nou, and ventures there to look for it. The main goal of the game is to have Rin die, be reincarnated 9 times, (fulfilling the purpose of each life), and to find the 5 elemental magatamas. Along the way he meets the strange inhabitants of Tong Nou, explores the mysterious lands, and eventually, discovers the truth behind the island.
